Schuyler-Malcolm-Cochran family papers, 1795-1918.

The papers consist chiefly of correspondence of Catharine Van Rensselaer with members of her immediate family, friends, and other relatives. The letters tend to concern routine matters of everyday life such as sickness, travel, family news/gossip, and finances. References to births, deaths, marriages and other notable events of Schuyler and allied families are also found in these letters. The later years represented in this collection consist mostly of correspondence of the family of Richard Lawrence Malcolm (1854-1937), particularly his wife Martha Anna Crawford (1856-1924). These letters/postal cards were written mostly by their two sons, Richard and Herbert. in regards to their life at college, travel, and personal finances, as well news about family and friends.
